DESCRIPTION:Comic Book Art: Crafting Stories\nTuesdays\, 5:30 – 8:00 PM \nFour classes:\nMarch 4th\, 11th\, 18th\, and April 1st.\nAges: Adults \nThis class will explore the principles of narrative storytelling and visually interpreting them in comic book form. Students will leave with three to four complete short form stories by the end of the class and a greater awareness of how stories are structured and what makes them work. \nStudents provide: \nNotebook/sketchbook\nPencils\nMicron Pens\nColored Markers (optional)\nThe Writer’s Journey by Christopher Vogler (suggested but optional) \nAbout the Instructor: \nGene Kim is a Korean-American storyboard artist who has worked on shows for Netflix\, Amazon Studios\, Angel Studios\, HBO Max and more. He was previously a CG artist at Disney’s Blue Sky Studios (Ice Age\, Rio) and a CG intern at Pixar Animation Studios before then. His own award-winning original animated and live action work has played internationally on the film festival circuit. DESCRIPTION:The winter of 1777 saw a Forage War across Somerset County and the surrounding region as the Continental Army and New Jersey Militia fought a continuing campaign of skirmishes with British and Hessian forces\, denying them access to vital provisions and ultimately the interior of New Jersey. \nWill Krakower\, New Jersey’s historian for Princeton Battlefield State Park\, introduces the Forage War of January – March 1777 and shares research into this critical but understudied period of the Revolutionary War.
