Tea Burning & Tea Tasting: New Jersey on the Eve of the Revolutionary War, 1774

Tea Burning & Tea Tasting: New Jersey on the Eve of the Revolutionary War, 1774 Why Tea? Colonial American Protests of 1774, 3:15 p.m. American colonists imported a wide range of commodities through the East India Company including glass, paper, lead, paint colors, sugar and tea, but beginning with the “Boston Tea Party” in December 1773 tea alone was the center of protests. At least ten “Tea Parties” occurred across British North America including two tea burnings in New Jersey between 1773 and 1775. Michael and Deborah Raab, owners of Tea-for-All in Trenton, ask and explore why tea was the focal point of protest in America 250 years ago on eve of the Revolutionary War. Colonial Colleges Yule Log: Tea Burning & Tea Tasting, 4:15 p.m. Toss a sprig of a holly on the Colonial Colleges Yule Log and enjoy a festive open house of Old Dutch Parsonage. Warm up with complimentary tastings of the historic teas that figured in the Tea Parties 250 years ago offered by Deborah and Michael Raab, owners of Tea-for-All in Trenton.
