Carolean Eras Old & New: New Jersey Day & Coronation of King Charles III

NJ

Carolean Eras Old & New: New Jersey Day & Coronation of King Charles III The 24th of June is New Jersey Day, anniversary of the establishment of New Jersey as an English colony on June 24, 1664. The reign of King Charles II saw the English takeover of New Netherland from the Dutch and the establishment of New Jersey as a colony separate from New York, dividing the new colony into East and West with social and commercial interests facing north and south, embedding the pernicious practice of enslavement of Africans as an essential early source of colonial wealth and labor, and attracting the religious and national diversity that informed a tradition of liberty and innovation characterizing New Jersey through the centuries to the present day. This historic houses tour of Wallace House & Old Dutch Parsonage explores the establishment of New Jersey in the reign of King Charles II and reflects on the legacy of the Old Carolean Era as a New Carolean Era opens on the Coronation of King Charles III.

HIs show has morphed into one with a fair amount of comedy baked into the storytelling as he writes what he believes to be true, and tries to have a sense of humor about the stuff that hurts. Kellogg’s latest record, “Keep It Up, Kid,” was released at the end of 2022. Side B is a suite of five interconnected songs that explore the journey from youth to middle age. Side A is a note of solidarity for anyone looking for hope in hopeless situations.
