Santa at the Commons
NJHere Comes Santa Claus! The Jolly O’ St. Nick welcomes children of all ages for enchanted visits filled with holiday magic. Located in Center Court on the shopping center’s Lower Level, visits to Santa Celebration will begin Saturday, Nov. 12 through Saturday, Dec. 24. Set amongst 25 garland-topped light curtains (each adorned with thousands of white, glistening lights) and candy-cane inspired twists cascading from high above, Santa Celebration will feature an authentic Kris Kringle perched in his grand velvet chair on an elevated platform behind his adoring guests. A bright and cheery, red photo frame sits in front of the famed wish-fulfiller proclaiming, “Holiday Joy.” Photo reservation and schedule page coming soon! Santa Photo Special Events Santa’s Luau! - Wed, Nov. 30, 4pm – close. Santa may work in the cold during the holidays, but he loves the tropics too! Don your best Hawaiian gear and join the fun! Santa Cares Day – Sunday, Dec. 4, 10am – 11am and Sunday, Dec. 18, 9am – 10am. Visits with Santa for those community members with special needs including and beyond that of autism. Children and adults within all spectrums of special needs and their families are welcome to their sensory-friendly event to experience

This year, join us for a Special Experience on the Courthouse Green in Somerville… Step inside a replica of George Washington’s Revolutionary War Tent! George Washington's Revolutionary War tent was the office and sleeping quarters that Washington used as the Continental Army’s command center. Somerset County welcomes the Museum of the American Revolution and their replica of Washington's tent to the Courthouse Green this Journey through the Past. Tent set up begins at 9:30 a.m. on October 8, 2022, come early and help set it up!
Festival of Trees
NJDecember is the time to visit the Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center (EEC) to welcome winter and get into the holiday spirit! The festival is an indoor exhibit of decorated trees by various community groups and individuals alike. Enjoy holiday music and relax while viewing the beautiful trees! Please call 908-722-1200 (ext. 5328) or email mjuhasz@scparks.org to participate as an exhibitor and decorate a tree, to make group reservations or for more information. A Christmas Carol (virtual)
NJThis story of a misanthrope transformed by the visions of his past, present and future found a place in the hearts of both poor and rich. The novella not only celebrates the spirit of the Christmas season, but its message of love, forgiveness and redemption is timeless and universal. It has been translated into several languages and adapted countless times for the stage and the screen. In this program, the presenter will focus on the plot, characters and theme of the book, as well as on Dickens’ mastery over the art of storytelling. Presenter: Vandana Walia Vandana has a master’s degree in English and taught for thirty years in India before moving to the United States. For almost ten years, she have been teaching literature from across the world at Osher Life Learning Institute at Rutgers University. She has a passion for reading and loves to discuss everything she reads.
