THE BROOK LAUNCHES STAND UP COMEDY NIGHTS!

Laughter begins at the Brook Arts Center starting July 16, as we launch our Stand Up Comedy Nights. Join us in welcoming three hilarious comedians, John Moses, Kyle Ocasio and Adam Oliensis, on Friday, July 16th. For over 15 years, John Moses has delightfully offended audiences in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. Moses considers himself an “equal-opportunity offender”. His style is shrewd, raw and uncompromisingly funny. Moses appears on Sirius XM Raw Dog, The Foxxhole Canada Laughs, Gotham Comedy Live by AXS.TV and has released two albums: Upper Middle Trash and On the Edge. The Brook Arts Center's Summer music and comedy series is in full swing. Join us for our live concerts on the historic Brook Theatre stage. Join Bridgewater Commons for an exciting afternoon of fun and a special meet and greet with Central Jersey’s most lovable mascot, Somerset Patriots’ very own Sparkee! Receive fun Patriots giveaways, free photo opportunity with Sparkee and a chance to win tickets to the Patriots’ special game on July 25th featuring Paw Patrol. Making his debut in July of 1998, Sparkee has since gone on to become one of the most popular characters in the Central New Jersey area. Sparkee received his name in a contest run to help the team name the mascot before the Somerset Patriots even played a game. He is named after New York Yankees legend and then Somerset Patriots manager Sparky Lyle. His named was spelled S-p-a-r-k-e-e to give him his own identity, though he does have Sparky’s handlebar mustache worked into his look.

Hosted by The Children’s Museum in partnership Bridgewater Commons, Let’s Get Going! will have a variety of educational and enjoyable activities to give youth and their parents an opportunity to learn about the program theme of transportation. Included will be an activity station where children can make and decorate their own train cars, an activity where they can pretend to operate their own train, an activity where they'll decorate and bring home conductor caps and more! This is not a drop-off experience; parents must stay with their children for the entire visit. The Children’s Museum is a small, hands-on all-volunteer museum based in Bridgewater, NJ. with most programs geared toward children ages 3 to 8 and their families. Activities are intended to provide educational value, promote creativity, provide a sense of wonder, and to provide parents and children the opportunity to interact as a family in an educational venue. Sign-up slots are available on a first come, first serve basis. Limited walk-ins available at the beginning of each hour on a first come first-served basis. Ross Farm Music Series kicks off with Fantastic Cat 7/18

Fantastic Cat is made up of four singer-songwriters including two Ross Farm alum Anthony D’Amato and Brian Dunne, as well as Hollis Brown frontman Mike Montali and Don DiLego, who came together for a unique project where they could each bring their own element – and songs – to the table. New York singer-songwriter, harpist and guitarist Lizzie No opens the concerrt. No is described as one of the most exciting new voices in Americana music. Her 2017 debut album, ‘Hard Won,’ was hailed as “simultaneously understated and fervent” by Billboard Magazine. Gates open at 4 p.m. and the concert begins at 4:30 p.m. Suggested donation is $20 for adults and $5 for students. Registration is strongly encouraged and donations can be made via PayPal at the time of registration or at the door, if desired. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and feel free to pack a picnic or snacks to enjoy as food will not be offered at this event.
