For nearly a year now, the Covid-19 virus has invaded our lives in devastating ways that we could have never before imagined. Every aspect of our existence has changed. Destitution, including hunger, unemployment and homelessness has shattered the future for many, and our perspective of life and death has forever been altered. For this juried exhibition we’re asking artists to look upon this period of time and create reflective imagery through the process of hand drawing an image onto a chosen surface. The surface can be paper, but may also include any other surface that works. Drawing implements can range from pencils, pens, and charcoal to brushes, crayons and markers to 3 dimensional materials such as string, as well as a stylus or touch screen and any other tool that can translate the drawing successfully onto the chosen surface. Eligibility 1. Exhibition is open to residents 18 years or older, living in NY, NJ and PA. 2. All media must be original and by the artist. 3. We prefer that work be hand delivered to the gallery, but will accept pre-paid shipment of work preferably through the Post Office with return packaging to and from the gallery 4 Art work

LIVE in Your Livingroom Virtual Author Series: The Watergate Girl -Jill Wine-Banks

December 8, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
NJ United States + Google Map

Obstruction of justice, the specter of impeachment, sexism at work, shocking revelations: Jill Wine-Banks takes us inside her trial by fire as a Watergate prosecutor. It was a time, much like today, when Americans feared for the future of their democracy, and women stood up for equal treatment. At the crossroads of the Watergate scandal and the women’s movement was a young lawyer named Jill Wine Volner (as she was then known), barely thirty years old and the only woman on the team that prosecuted the highest-ranking White House officials. Called “the mini-skirted lawyer” by the press, she fought to receive the respect accorded her male counterparts?and prevailed. In The Watergate Girl, Jill Wine-Banks opens a window on this troubled time in American history. It is impossible to read about the crimes of Richard Nixon and the people around him without drawing parallels to today’s headlines. The book is also the story of a young woman who sought to make her professional mark while trapped in a failing marriage, buffeted by sexist preconceptions, and harboring secrets of her own. Her house was burgled, her phones were tapped, and even her office garbage was rifled through. At once a cautionary tale
