In this series of 288 paintings, Mon (Long Valley, NJ) encompasses the entry of new places that are both real and fantasy. They comment and reflect on humanity as individuals and as a whole in current issues involving politics or humanitarianism. Mon also invited other artists to participate by designing Flags for the New Land, which resulted in multitudes of ideas and imagery, and 73 flags, which will also be on view. Franklin Day Festival

SOMERSET NJ – On Saturday, September 28th, Franklin Township Parks & Recreation will host the Township’s annual Franklin Day Festival (FDF) from 12:00pm to 5:00pm at Colonial Park, Lot C in Somerset, NJ. Over 20,000 Franklin Township residents, local businesses, and artists and visitors from neighboring towns attended the festival last year! This special event offers a day of fantastic family fun including an array of attractions along with the eclectic musical stylings of live bands on the main stage. There is something for everyone whether you’re a fan of Jazz, R&B, Pop, Rock or Gospel! The FDF cultural stage will also feature instrumentalists, dancers, and singers performing music from around the world. The Franklin Day Festival includes popular programs designed for children, adults, and seniors. So bring the entire family! Our annual Artwalk will display artwork solicited by the public, as well as, from Franklin Township Public School students. Located on North Bridge St. between Main st and High st. in Downtown Somerville Another annual Oktoberfest Celebration brought to you by Tapastre & Project PUB. Eat, drink and be merry! Local craft beers and traditional Oktoberfest brews will be on hand, along with plenty of food from local restaurants and live music from awesome bands throughout the day. We will be featuring: local Oktoberfest brews, traditional Marzen style ales, fall seasonals, pumpkin beers, sangria, mead and cider as well as a collection of craft beers for those not feeling the Marzen style. NJ Audubon: Digital Photography Workshop 1 – Understanding Your Camera Led by Phil Witt and David DesRochers, NJ Audubon Associate Naturalists Workshop 1 will review the basics of understanding your camera. The instructors will go over the camera controls, helping participants understand how the settings work and how changes in settings affect the image. Participants will learn what equipment can be used to achieve different effects. By the end of the workshop, participants will understand lenses, camera bodies (mostly digital single lens reflex bodies), megapixels, shutter speeds, f/stops, focal lengths, apertures, exposure histograms, and depth of field— and how all of these can be used to take good nature photographs. Although the focus will be on nature photography, many of the same principles and equipment needs apply to other kinds of photography as well. When Saturday, September 28, 2019 (1:00pm to 3:30pm).
