Frontline Arts and Frontline Paper are inviting artists nationwide to submit work for an upcoming group show: "The War on the World". The curators of the exhibition “The War On The World” extend to you an invitation to submit up to three works for consideration to hang in the Frontline Arts Gallery throughout November, 2019. “The War On The World” confronts the reality that the leading polluter of our planet is the U.S. military. Given the precarious state of the earth, with our country hostage to mindless greed and racism, fear and hate, the curators hope to construct a vivid picture of where we are, where we could be going and what we can do about it. Our thoughts are to begin immediately and then to expand this exhibit into later next year. In advance of the 2020 elections, we wish to be seen, maybe heard, perhaps inspire. Does it matter? Humanity is part of the Eco-system. As artists, we know something of humanity. So why not. As one great artist of the environment, Edward Abbey, famously said, “Sentiment without action is the ruin of the soul." Lamington Lifestyles (formerly Lamington General Store) has been located in a restored 1890s general store next to the barn for more than 33 years and we are proud to represent more than 80 American artisans on two floors filled with hand-made furniture, distinctive gifts, women's accessories, baby items, lighting and home decor! The Franklin Township Community Farmers Market is back for its third season! The Market will provide fresh produce, baked goods, fresh cut flowers, meats and more. Visitors will be entertained and informed by local musicians, community groups, kids activities and weekly themed events. SNAP/EBT is accepted for eligible items, and because the Market is now part of the Garden State Good Foods Network, SNAP dollars can be doubled for up to $10 per customer. Come to the Franklin Township Community Farmers Markets every Saturday (June 1st - September 21st) from 10AM - 2PM at the Franklin Township Municipal Complex at 475 DeMott Lane, Somerset, NJ 08873 (field between Amwell Road and DeMott Lane).

Spirit of the Jerseys State History Fair

New Jersey’s rich and diverse history will be showcased during the Spirit of the Jerseys State History Fair Saturday, September 14 at Monmouth Battlefield State Park. Exhibitors from Somerset County include Friends of Abraham Staats House, Heritage Trail Association, Millstone Valley Preservation Coalition, Rockingham Historic Site & Rockingham Association, Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission, and Wallace House & Old Dutch Parsonage. The fair will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. A $10 per vehicle parking donation is suggested. Rain date will be September 15.

Somerset Patriots Ballpark Brewfest 2019

The inaugural Ballpark Brewfest, at the home of the Somerset Patriots, TD Bank Ballpark is on Saturday September 14th. Hang out in the concourse, down in the stands and even sample tasty brews by home plate! With 80 beers from 40 breweries, live music, food and fun, this is guaranteed to be a good time. There are 2 sessions during the day, both provide 4 hours of beer sampling, live music and good food. VIP tickets allow for 1 hour early entry and are very limited.
