Marsha Goldberg: Reiterations – Paintings & Works on Paper

The Center for Contemporary Art 2020 Burnt Mills Road Bedminster, NJ 07921 (908) 234-2345 Marsha Goldberg works primarily in painting, drawing, and printmaking, and has recently been making cyanotypes from ink-on-acetate drawings. In 2013, she received the NJ State Council for the Arts Fellowship in the category Works on Paper. In her current work, which combines cyanotype and drawing media, she continues her investigation into war-related images and their dissemination in news media. He focuses primarily on wood-firing vessels and urns inspired by Japanese and Etruscan wares. Branchburg Woman’s Club Flea Market and 50/50 Raffle

The Branchburg Woman's Club will host an indoor Flea Market and Raffle from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27 at Branchburg Central Middle School, 220 Baird Road (08876). There will be a 50/50 raffle, a bake sale, refreshments, plus free admission and parking. The BWC's proceeds benefit charities. Shoppers may find nice household items, attic treasures, and crafted goods. Featured are Linda Yianolatos, author of the Crystal City Series of children's books; J.J. Mish, nature photographer and writer; Jim's Bonsai Trees, and Plum's Vintage Fountain Pens. The event is almost completely booked, but for additional general information, please leave a message at (908) 866-1824. Directions: From Highway 22, exit to Readington Road. After 2.5 miles, turn left at the traffic light onto Baird Road. The school will be on your left.

2019 Spring Plant Sale and Earth Day Celebration @ Leonard J. Buck Garden

The annual Spring Plant Sale and Earth Day Celebration will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 28 at the Somerset County Park Commission's Leonard J. Buck Garden, 11 Layton Road in Far Hills, NJ. The plant sale will feature choice perennials, ferns, alpines and woody plants, including deer resistant and pollinator-friendly varieties. Handmade troughs will also be available. Special activities include a free garden talk each day at 1 p.m. and a free guided tour of Buck Garden each day at 2 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by the Watnong Chapter of the North American Rock Garden Society. Spring is finally here and there's not a better way to refresh and rejuvenate than to come to Buck Garden's annual plant sale for some fresh air and to pick up a few botanical treasures. Exquisite selections of perennials, ferns, alpines, woody plants including deer resistant and pollinator-friendly varieties will be available. Handmade troughs & fairy houses will also be available to purchase. Buck Garden staff and Rock Garden Society members will be on hand to advise visitors about plants and gardening. There will also be free inspiring garden lectures given each day at 1 pm, and free guided tours of Buck Garden each day at 2pm.

4-H Magic Show

Somerset County 4-H will host a Family Fun Magic Show on Saturday, April 27th at 1 p.m. (doors open at 12:30 p.m.) at the Ted Blum 4-H Center on 310 Milltown Road in Bridgewater, NJ. Admission to the show is $10 per ticket (cash only at door) and tickets can be reserved a head of time online. The show is an 60 minute program which is recommended for ages 5 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The show is a fundraiser for the Arts Division of the 4-H Program. Concessions will also be available for purchase (cash only). The show will be presented by volunteer 4-H leader and Somerset County 4-H alum, Conrad Cologne. Cologne works as a full time traveling entertainer specializing in magic for family audiences. When asked about the 4-H Program Cologne said "4-H gives youth the opportunity to become leaders in their community and learn life skills along the way. The 4-H Program has given me so much and I'm happy to give back to such an amazing program."
