Paintings by Joanne Bodnar on Display at Bernardsville Library in January

Bernardsville Public Library is pleased to present "Landscapes, Florals and Still-Lifes in Watercolor and Pastel," an exhibition of paintings by Joanne Bodnar, a resident of Whitehouse Station, NJ, during the month of January. The show will be on view in the Library's Community Room from January 3 to January 30, 2019. The artist will host an opening reception on Sunday, January 6 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Joanne Smith Bodnar is a watercolor and pastel artist. Traditional and creative whimsical pieces make up most of her painting subject matter. She has been a painter and teacher for over 35 years. Design and color are strong components of her work. Music, a play on words, and finding unusual objects for subject matter influence the compositions of her paintings. Many of her paintings are inspired from just one object, from which she proceeds to develop an entire painting. She has exhibited extensively in juried shows, won numerous awards, and has paintings in several corporate and many private collections. A member of the Hunterdon Watercolor Society, she teaches adult art classes. About her work she says, "I hope it makes you smile!" 27th Annual Children’s Art Exhibit

NJ - Nature Through a Child's Eye, the 27th annual exhibit of children's art with an environmental theme, will be on display at the Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center (EEC) at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge. The show runs from Monday, January 7 through Sunday, February 3, 2019. The EEC is open every day except Monday, January 21, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Admission is to the exhibit is free.

Somerset County 4-H Trainmasters Annual Winter Show – 2019

The Somerset County 4-H Trainmasters Annual Winter Show will be held on Saturday and Sunday, January 26th and 27th, 2019 from 10:00am - 5:00pm both days. The first 20 children through the doors each day will receive a prize! The growing event will once again feature all types of vendors and crafters at the event at the Ted Blum 4-H Center in Bridgewater. Many vendors and crafters may offer free drawings! A variety of childrens' activities will once again be provided to keep siblings occupied. Concessions will be available throughout the event. Admission is $4.00 for Adults; $2.00 for Children up to 12 years of age, and free for children under 2 years old. Admission provides access to all areas of the show. There is no snow date. Should the parking lot become full at the Ted Blum 4-H Center, overflow parking is at the Somerset County Fairgrounds, located diagonally across the street. Paper Moon Puppet Theater presents The Sleeping Beauty.

The Paper Moon Puppet Theater was established in 1989, by Artistic Director James Racioppi, a master in of the art of creating and performing with marionettes for over 40 years. Racioppi’s work has been featured on The Captain Kangaroo Show, Kumquats, with Wayland Flowers and Madame and in numerous off-Broadway productions. On January 27, 2019, at 2 pm the Brook Arts Center is proud to announce, The Paper Moon Puppeteer will bring to the Brook stage the original tale of The Sleeping Beauty, a beautiful princess who falls under a witch’s spell and sleeps for 100 years The lovable fairies, a court jester and a little dog add to the story’s timeless charm. Guests will enjoy an interactive pre-show with the puppets before the main performance and are invited after the show to ask questions about the performance. Never a service charge, plus advance ticket orders will receive a 10% coupon for dinner after the show at Mama Rosina’s Restaurant located one block from the theater.
