Paintings by Joanne Bodnar on Display at Bernardsville Library in January

Bernardsville Public Library is pleased to present "Landscapes, Florals and Still-Lifes in Watercolor and Pastel," an exhibition of paintings by Joanne Bodnar, a resident of Whitehouse Station, NJ, during the month of January. The show will be on view in the Library's Community Room from January 3 to January 30, 2019. The artist will host an opening reception on Sunday, January 6 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Joanne Smith Bodnar is a watercolor and pastel artist. Traditional and creative whimsical pieces make up most of her painting subject matter. She has been a painter and teacher for over 35 years. Design and color are strong components of her work. Music, a play on words, and finding unusual objects for subject matter influence the compositions of her paintings. Many of her paintings are inspired from just one object, from which she proceeds to develop an entire painting. She has exhibited extensively in juried shows, won numerous awards, and has paintings in several corporate and many private collections. A member of the Hunterdon Watercolor Society, she teaches adult art classes. About her work she says, "I hope it makes you smile!" The Sky Above All ages are welcome to this one hour sensory- friendly program. The show will provide a comfortable and judgment-free space that is welcoming to all families. The doors will remain open so that children will be able to come and go. Lights will be left dim and audio will be lowered and at a consistent level. The sky show will include: music, videos, planets, the Moon, constellations and laser lights. It is a collection of music, music videos, laser images choreographed to songs and one short story. Each song is of course 3-4 minutes. One about a rocket ride, another about the planets, constellations, etc. It is not a typical planetarium show at all. There is no lecture, just lots of music and visuals to go with the songs. If your students can watch a kid’s TV show or a movie, then this show may not be for them.
