“Nature and Life” – Photographs by Gina Petrecca on Display at Bernardsville Library

Bernardsville Public Library is pleased to present an exhibition of photographs by Springfield resident Gina Petrecca. The show will be on view in the Library's Community Room from December 2 to December 28. Ms. Petrecca has loved photography since she was a child when she became fascinated with preserving memories. She loves taking pictures of still lifes, landscapes, nature, and animals as well as special events, parties, and even events on a normal day. Her inspiration comes from colors, shapes, or anything different, and it changes depending on the situations she finds herself in. "Sometimes an idea pops in my head and I just do it," she says, "I feel every artist is unique and their tastes are different. I can’t fit myself in a category. I just do what I want and enjoy the uniqueness that each moment presents." This exhibition will be on view during regular library hours unless a meeting is in progress. Whitehouse Wind Symphony Free Concert

The Whitehouse Wind Symphony, a community band under the direction of Branchburg resident James P. Sheeley, Jr., will present a free holiday concert on Saturday, Dec. 15th at 3:00pm at St. John's Episcopal Church (158 West High Street, Somerville, NJ 08876). This is the third of four holiday concerts the Symphony is performing this year. This year’s program is entitled “A Holiday Celebration!” Concertgoers will enjoy the band’s arrangements of classic Christmas carols such as “Good King Wenceslas,” “Il est Ne, le Divin Enfant,” “Hark The Herald Angels Sing,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” “Good Christian Men, Rejoice,” “Oh Come, All Ye Faithful,” and “Here We Come A’Caroling.” The band will also play some favorite holiday songs like “Over the River and Through the Woods,” “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” and “Frosty the Snowman.” Also planned is a medley from the animated TV special “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Audience members will be invited to sing along for “A Christmas Festival,” and as is tradition with the band, children will be invited to ring sleigh bells as the band plays “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson.
