Celebrating the sharing spirit of National Poetry Month (April) and continuing a popular poetry series, six New Jersey poets whose work has appeared in Tiferet Journal will read from the publication and their other works on Monday, April 15 at 7:00 pm at Bernardsville Public Library. An open mic reading and a reception with light refreshments will follow the featured readers.
“Tiferet is a non-sectarian, non-dogmatic publication at the nexus of literature and spirituality,” said Donna Baier Stein, a Bernardsville resident who founded the quarterly Journal in 2005. “The name refers to a stable center where the physical and spiritual realms meet. Tiferet Journal publishes high quality poetry, prose and art that further meaningful dialogue about what it is to be humane in today’s world. We are especially happy to share the works of these wonderful poets, all of whom have been published in Tiferet, with the Bernardsville Library audience.”
Guest poets will be Yehoshua November, Vasiliki Katsarou, Tom Plante, Gretna Wilkinson, Charles Johnson and Deborah LaVeglia.
National Poetry Month was inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996. Over the years, according to poets.org, it has become the largest literary celebration in the world with schools, publishers, libraries, booksellers, and poets celebrating poetry’s vital place in our culture.
There is no charge to attend the program, and no sign-up is needed. For further information call the Library at 908-766-0118.
