College football began 150 years ago here in New Jersey when two colonial colleges met for the first college football game. Visit the Old Dutch Parsonage in New Jersey State Parks for talk and tailgate to learn how the revolutionary rivalry between New Jersey’s colonial colleges propelled American history and New Jersey’s early leadership in higher education.

Open House, Old Dutch Parsonage, 10 am – 1 pm, outdoor bake oven demos, colonial games, tailgate

11 am: Talk on colonial college rivalry

Noon: Meet ‘William Leggett’ captain of Rutgers victory 150 years ago.
