Raritan Valley Symphonic Band Presents “Musical Instrument Petting Zoom”
The Raritan Valley Symphonic Band invites kids of all ages to a series of four virtual “Musical Instrument Petting Zoom” presentations on Sunday afternoons @ 2 pm during February. Admission is free and each 30 minute virtual session will feature one or more wind ensemble instruments: February 7 – Trombones February 14 – Flutes February 21 – Trumpets & French Horns February 28 – Tubas & Euphoniums Links to each Zoom presentations can be found on the band’s website: RVSB.org Students will receive an introduction to the instrument and its history, an explanation of the various parts of the instrument (e.g., keys, valves, tubes), brief solo and group performances with the instrument, and more. Each session will conclude with a live Q&A period. The RVSB is one of New Jersey’s top community bands, performing at least 5 concerts annually, plus performances at the 2019 Association of Concert Bands convention and the 2017 John Basilone memorial concert. These virtual presentations are offered this year instead of the band’s highly popular Children’s Concert, which usually features performances of light music followed by a live “instrument petting zoo”.
