NJ Audubon: Fall Foliage and Tree I.D.
Workshop, with illustrated presentation and guided walk, led by Dorothy Smullen, Teacher/Naturalist
Why do leaves turn color? How do you identify trees both in summer and winter? How do their seeds disperse? Dorothy Smullen has the answers! Join Dorothy for an illustrated presentation exploring basic tree vocabulary, the common trees of our area, and then try out your new tree-ID skills on a guided Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary trail walk.
Dorothy Smullen is a naturalist and former high school science educator. She was the President of the New Jersey Mycological Association and the Northeastern Mycological Federation. She received her MA in Biology from Brooklyn College, and in 2016 received the North American Mycological Association’s 2016 Gary Lincoff Award for Contributions to Amateur Mycology.
