Four classes: February 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th.

Members: $230, Non-Members: $245

Material Fee: $20

Ages: Adults

This class will explore the principles of narrative storytelling and visually interpreting them in comic book form. Students will leave with three to four complete short form stories by the end of the class and a greater awareness of how stories are structured and what makes them work.

Students provide:
Notebook/sketchbook
Pencils
Micron Pens
Colored Markers (optional)
The Writer’s Journey by Christopher Vogler (suggested but optional)

ADA Notice: This specific course will be held in a room that is not ADA accessible. However, we have raised part of the funds to make it accessible in the future.

Age note: This course is for adults. We’re separately planning a spring teen comic book course.

About the Instructor:

Gene Kim is a Korean-American storyboard artist who has worked on shows for Netflix, Amazon Studios, Angel Studios, HBO Max and more. He was previously a CG artist at Disney’s Blue Sky Studios (Ice Age, Rio) and a CG intern at Pixar Animation Studios before then. His own award-winning original animated and live action work has played internationally on the film festival circuit.
