Dog Friendly Spots to Uncover

You don’t have to leave your dog at home! Have your dog be part of your adventures in Somerset County. Below we’ve captured some of the best dog friendly places around so you know where you can bring your pooch.

Dog walks at Lord Stirling Stables

Registration begins 15 minutes before each walk kicks off. Dogs and their humans will be led on the trails at:

Every Saturday: 9am (regular pace) and 9:30am (fast walk and 30-minute short walk)

Bark in the Park with Somerset Patriots (Bridgewater)

Well-behaved, socialized dogs are welcome to enjoy giveaways, dog-related vendors and water stations throughout the main concourse. A specialized “Yappy Hour” will take place during the game for dogs to be rewarded with an ice cream snack at the ballpark.

Please note: for each location, the expectation is that your dog is friendly and leashed. Each establishment may also have varying degrees of other restrictions in place such as number of dogs allowed per table or general area. We highly recommend calling ahead of time before heading over with your dogs!

Burnt Mill Cider’s large outdoor space makes it an ideal location to bring your dog.

Check out Flounder Brewing! If you’ve just hit the trails with your pup, this is a great spot to take your dog while you relax and enjoy the bucolic views. Leashed friendly dogs allowed on front hard patio only.

Does your dog need some extra playtime during the day? Camp Bow Wow has all your dog’s needs in mind from day care, boarding, training, to grooming!

Hungry Hound (Somerville) has all of your retail needs for your dog whether that’s treats to celebrate their milestones, bandanas to make a fashion statement, or standard needs for your pup this is a great spot to check out in Downtown Somerville.

Hit up Pet Supplies Plus (Hillsborough), one of Hillsborough’s newest establishments. From dog washes, treats, and more, this is a a great spot to get everything you need for your dog before heading over to Flounder Brewing!

Trails and Gardens

Cross Estate Gardens (Bernardsville) – Stroll through one of the most photographic places in Somerset County with your dog

D&R Canal– one of the most popular recreational corridors in New Jersey – check out over 70 miles of this trail system!

Fairview Farm Wildlife Preserve (Bedminster) – Experience the beauty of Somerset County with over 5 miles of hiking trails

Natirar (Peapack) – Enjoy scenic rolling hills with historic buildings

Sourland Mountains (Hillsborough/Montgomery) – Over 6,300 acres of natural, undisturbed area to explore

Washington Valley (Bridgewater) – There’s so much variation in this park that is 719 acres your dog will be sure to love
